English

This research focuses on the three Narrated attributes "ayn", "junb" and "fuqiyat" (superiority), which are issues whose appearance can lead to spatialized perceptions of God and for this reason have been at the center of the conflict between Salafi and Imami hadith commentators for centuries. The spread of contemporary doubts about spatial attributes, especially in the debates between Salafi and Shiite movements, has doubled the need for a comparative and critical re-reading of these interpretations. Accordingly, the present research, using a critical comparative method, first attempts to recover the explanation of each of these attributes in the narrative and hadith exegesis sources of the two schools of thought, and then, using a critical approach, evaluates the degree of compatibility of each view with Quranic, narrative and rational principles. Therefore, it deals with a brief lexical and interpretative analysis of the attributes, extracts hadith exegesis theories and compares the arguments of both movements. The results show that Salafis, relying on the appearance of the words and the principle of "without form", consider these attributes to be true and avoid any interpretation. The Salafi approach shows that their adherence to the appearance of the descriptive attributes and refusal of any interpretation ultimately leads to accepting a kind of corporeality for God, even if it is presented differently from the creatures, while the Imamiyya denies the spatial meaning.
