Abstract

The treatise "The Virtue of the Commander of the Faithful (AS)" written by Khwaja Nasir al-Din Tusi (597-672 AH) is a significant work in the field of theology and has played an influential role in promoting Islamic beliefs. This great scholar of the Shia world has left behind valuable and precious works in various theological fields. Although many of his handwritten works have been edited and researched, most have not been corrected and studied as thoroughly as they should be, thus requiring further investigation. Among these is the aforementioned treatise, which Tusi has skillfully written from the perspective of transmitted theology (Quranic verses) regarding the virtue of Imam Ali (AS) and comparing him with the first of creation, namely the prophets, and the last of creation, namely the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This work is unique in its exploration of the virtues and merits of the first Imam of the Shia. An examination, explanation, and detailed analysis of this comparison from the perspective of verses and narrations are among the reflections that can be expressed regarding Tusi's approach in this treatise. This treatise has been critically edited based on five copies available in the libraries of the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the University of Tehran.
