Abstract
Theology is one of the fundamental pillars of religious thought and has played an important role in establishing the intellectual foundations of Muslim society. During the Safavid era, Shiite theologians were provided with a suitable opportunity to rethink the views of their predecessors and Shiite theology evolved from a narrative approach to a philosophical-jurisprudential approach. Focusing on the sources of the Safavid era, this research examines the political, social, and epistemological factors affecting the tendency of Shiite theology towards wisdom-centered methods. The findings show that the formalization of Shiism by the Safavid state, competition with the Sunni Ottomans, the need for a deductive ideological system, and the emergence of geniuses such as Mulla Sadra paved the way for the fusion of Imami theology with transcendental wisdom. In this research, "wisdom" as the philosophical system of "transcendental wisdom" and "wisdom-centeredness" as the systematic application of the tools and concepts of this wisdom in the field of Shiite theology are examined. The main goal is to analyze the historical and epistemological contexts of this methodological transformation in the Safavid era. The findings of the research show that the formalization of Shiism by the Safavids, competition with the Sunni Ottomans, the need for a deductive belief system, and the emergence of figures such as Mulla Sadra paved the way for the introduction of wisdom-based methods into Imami theology. This tendency was the product of a complex interaction of political, social, and epistemological factors and has left a lasting impact on the intellectual richness of Shiite theology. The main goal of the research is to analyze the factors and contexts that led to the emergence and influence of theological methods in Shiite theology during the Safavid era.
